Sons of the American Legion Detachment of Indiana
Andy Byers was elected Detachment Commander at the annual Detachment Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 13, 2024, by the delegates representing the over 35,000 members of the Sons of The American Legion.
Commander Byers is a proud and active 53-year member of the Sons of the American Legion. His eligibility is through the service of his father, William C. Byers, who served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as an Aircraft Mechanic.
Andy is a Past Commander of Squadron 72, Crawfordsville, and the 6th District. He is married to Kristy. They have 3 children, Tonya, Brittany, and William, along with 4 grandchildren, Chloe, Madisyn, Noah, and Enzo.
Commander Byers looks forward to attending District/Squadron meetings and many events throughout the State this coming year. You may contact Commander Byers at [email protected].
Commander Byers' project is the Riley Hospital for Children. Donations will be accepted at all District and Detachment meetings or may be mailed directly to the Sons of The American Legion, Detachment of Indiana earmarked for Riley.
