NOTE FROM DETACHMENT COMMANDER DAVID MILLER: The money raised for the Detachment Commander’s Project stays within Indiana. In addition to helping the families of our service men and women, the scholarships also help the families of first responders (police, fire-fighters, EMTs, and paramedics). The scholarships are available to the children and spouses of Indiana’s fallen and disabled servicemembers and first responders. From the Indiana Folds of Honor Website (click on image above): “…those who protect our freedom and our families deserve our unwavering support.”
My slogan this year, “Educating Their Legacy,” has a dual meaning. Every Veteran has a story to tell; they have each created a legacy of their own that can be passed on. By passing on these stories, we are being educated to their experiences. Some Veteran’s legacy includes their children and spouses. For those who have fallen or are disabled, Folds of Honor allows us to literally educate their legacy – through scholarship for higher education; a vocational/certification program; or for grades K-12 private tuition, tutoring, homeschooling, books, and uniforms.
